Visiting the Davidson's

The girls and I got a chance to visit my sister and her family in Idaho this past weekend. We had lot's of fun and Bailey even renamed some of them. Michael is now "Dad", Aurora is "Purple Dress" (she used that one because she calls Rapunzel Purple Dress, and with Aurora's long hair she reminded Bailey of her.), and Ethan and Leif are "Boys"(They're usually hanging out together so it was usually worked out to just say boys.) The Davidson's also got two new dog's over the holiday season and at first Bailey was Okay with them if they weren't touching her, and Kelsey just hated them! But by the end Bailey was crawling on the floor acting like a dog with them, and Kelsey still hated them... we'll try to work on that. Saturday was our adventure day. We went up one of the canyons and went sledding.

Thanks for letting us come and crash for the weekend! We all wish we could have stayed longer it was really fun to have friends to play with. We also enjoyed getting to know you better.

Christmas in Utah

Just before school let out the girls and I set off in an adventure to Utah. It was a bit intimidating thinking of riding an airplane by myself with two children but we made it. I had lot's of help by some very kind passengers and let's not discount the the girls and their wonderful behavior! They basically just sat there and behaved themselves, it was wonderful! A few days later Jared joined us and we started on a busy adventure of visiting family and going to family parties.

Tyler and Reagan came to stay and we all went out to visit the sheep and goats next door.

Grandpa is a GREAT storyteller! Both girls love to sit on his lap and read with him.

Bailey received a doll sized bed but instead of putting dolls in it she and Kelsey like to climb in it.

She loves these babies...Bailey carries them around the house singing to them, playing with them, and reading to them.

Finally, some snow!

It was really fun to watch Bailey make snow angels.

Kelsey wasn't feeling great this day but she was a good sport to go outside with us.

We're having lots of fun, even though Jared had to leave to go back to school and then the Dominican Republic. But we'll keep posting pictures of all our fun adventures.

Dance Recital

Just before we came out to Utah Bailey had a Dance Recital. It was so cute... you can tell not too many of the girls get it but it was sure fun to watch them try.

Of course leave it to me to not think to put her hair up!

Kelsey stayed with Riley almost the entire night! They look like they had fun together.

Niagara Falls

We LOVE Niagara Falls! We were finally able to make it back, this time we went with Cathy and Joseph!

This is the Canadian Horse shoe falls of Niagara Falls.

Bailey couldn't fit though the bars, though she tried, so she wanted Daddy to help her over the railing.

This is a wonderful family picture of all four of us and Cathy. Kelsey is in the stroller by Cathy down the pathway.

Kelsey's Birthday!

I don't know if any one else has been having trouble, but for about a week I haven't been able to log on so as to update our blog!!! Well finally after trying a couple times today it worked. I'm so happy because now I can tell you all about Kelsey's first birthday!

We had a lot of fun at Kelsey's birthday. The theme was Ice Cream, you can't go wrong with that...

The house was full(with the size of our house it doesn't take many people to do that!)

She had no idea what was going on when we all sang to her and tried to get her to blow out the candle.

Yummy...treats...

This was the cake for everyone else. I baked cake batter in the ice cream cones, like cupcakes.

and of course Jared didn't take my gentle warning that it wasn't a good idea to serve them like that...

I'll bet you can guess what happened(some were on the floor too!)

Kelsey was funny to watch she never dug into the cake.she just picked off the chocolate chips one by one.


This was the most damage she did to it! She's such a lady she didn't even get any on her shirt.

Well, we had fun and hope everyone else did too. Thanks for coming to the party!

Raspberry Picking '11

This year we went Raspberry picking again. This time we had 3 other families with us and we got lots more berries!!! The Rollin's, Bullard's, and Clark's came with us, super lucky that the Clark's brought their camera because no one would have had pictures.

Both girls seem to be enjoying treats.

This tractor was just sitting in the middle of the row we were picking at. We couldn't keep them away from it.

this was supposed to be a "family" picture, unfortunately I didn't realize Kelsey couldn't be seen (she's in the back of the double stroller)

Picking raspberries is a lot of work! We did finally get 6 pints in all, which was great because then we were able to make all this jam...

Dance Class

Bailey started a dance class yesterday. It's put on by one of the other young mother's in our ward. I wasn't able to drop her off yesterday so she went with one of our friends who snapped this cute picture of the girls before class started.

She's the only one wearing a swimming suit, but that doesn't seem to bother her Ralae said she did well and had a lot of fun.

We had lot's of our good friends over to celebrate! And as you can tell they also helped blow out the candles.

I had so much fun making this cake. I got the recipe from the Wisk Kid blog. It tastes delicious, but unfortunately doesn't look nearly as crisp as hers...

The much anticipated 2nd Birthday! Poor Bailey wasn't feeling well and it shows. But even with all the crazy obstacles we had it turned out to be a blast! Happy Birthday Bailey, we love you!

Chagrin Falls

Last week we went with the Bullard's and the Clark's to Chagrin Falls. It was such a cool place! I really felt like we were in a new world. There are all sort's of fun shops, and little restaurants, and a really cool ice cream shop! Next time we have visitors this is definitely one place we should stop, it's only 30 min away!!!

Our Summer

This summer has been very eventful for us. Jared's Parents came out for Uncle Arron's graduation and we all went out to the Rolling Ridge Ranch

Then we went for a trip to Utah to visit friends and family. We went to a wedding, the zoo, out to dinner multiple times, to a splash pad, fed the sheep... and much much more. And of course I can't find the pictures I took so we're forced to only use the ones Kelsey, my sister-in-law, took.

Poor Kelsey was getting pretty dizzy on this ride. That's why she looks like she's about to fall over...

When we came back to Ohio we had Memorial day at the lake with some of our friends.

Jared started school again in June. The end of July however we started another break! We stayed here for a week and played with friends then we went to Wisconsin for a week and played with my family! We had lot's of fun dinner's, walked around the lake, had a lot of relax time, and went to a family pool in Watertown. (I'll have to wait to post these pictures because I don't have them from my sister yet)

Over all summer was fantastic! I'm glad to have these times together as a family to enjoy the ages of our kids and to play!

Just Kelsey

I know I've been bad about putting up pictures of our sweet little Kelsey. So here is a small sampling of what we've been up to with this little girl.

What pretty eyes, I love the deep blue!

She also get's some pretty sweet hair days!

I actually think Kelsey looks a lot like my sister Jessie in this picture(Jessie doesn't usually have red eyes though...)

This is her in therapy. She's doing an awesome job, but there's still a lot to do.

The past couple days I've loved looking at all the crazy positions this girl can sleep in.

Kelsey and Bailey love to sit in the doorway between the kitchen and the dinning room and watch me cook.

Yummy Lemon Cake

Not only was it conference weekend but it was also our friends Birthday this past Sunday, so I made her a cake and we had them and a few other friends over to celebrate!

You can tell just by these few ingredients it's going to be good!

The made from scratch lemon cake cooling along side the from scratch lemon curd!!!

And of course it all went nicely with the from scratch lemon cream cheese frosting...

Bailey made one of her typical Bailey messes and tripped walking between the front room and the dining room strait into the corner of the wall. She wouldn't let us hold ice on it so Jared had her pinned in his arms while I held the ice pack. Eventually she calmed down and looked like this...

FYI, she doesn't have a fat lip, we gave her m&m's to try and calm her down. It's probably not so Kosher, but it worked!

We luckily had the Packers make it to the Super Bowl this year. In all of our excitement we had our friends buy us some packer get-up!

Jared also taught Bailey some new football tricks, sadly I can't get the video to upload, so next time you see us ask to see ... off sides, false start, touchdown, and "oh no... interception"

The Christensen Visit!!!

Oh the long awaited visit of the Christensen family... How we love and enjoy them all... We're so happy you were finally able to make it!

After a fun evening of enjoying each others company we went, the next morning, to the science museum...

What an action packed day that was as the entire city of Cleveland was there as well! We finished off the day with a dinner at B Spot Burgers, which was pretty good, and sent them back off to Columbus with a promise to see them again soon.

Christmas

Christmas was a blast... we went to Lake Farm Park and took a carriage ride to see Christmas lights with Aunt Julie and Uncle Aaron, and the VanYperen's.

We then went to the horse barn to watch a show. It was pretty cool and the girls loved going right up to the action...

and of course being the mean mom I am I made Bailey ride the pony

There are other pictures of us on Santa's lap and at Santa's workshop building a toy but they'll have to get added later as they are on a different computer. As well as the pictures from our trip to Wisconsin that we have to get from Jessie(my sister) because our camera was dead and she had to take all the pictures with her camera.

Kelsey's Blessing Weekend

Over this past weekend we had Kelsey's blessing...sadly we weren't good about taking pictures... but we did take some!

Grandma Curtis and Aunt Julie made head costumes for the nativity...luckily Bailey got to model some of them for us!

First Snow Fall

We went to go Grape and Apple picking with our friends the Clark's, but there weren't any grapes left and there wasn't as much of a selection of apples as there was last year :( But we still had a great day and ended up bringing home a HUGE pumpkin!

CADA Halloween Carnival

This past weekend was the Halloween Carnival for CADA. It was a lot of fun... Bailey didn't really understand all the games but we tried anyway. There was also a "photo booth" and we got a couple of really cute pictures!

As you can tell Bailey and I were Bumble Bees and Jared and Kelsey were Bears. Aunt Julie got to join us for one of our family pictures.

New Arrival

Kelsey made it here Friday the 24th of September at 1:30pm. She weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, and was 20 inches long. She is very healthy and quite calm. We're happy to have her here.

Indians Game

This year we were able to attend an Indians game with some of our friends. It was just my kind of game...short, the Indians won and there was a pretty cool fireworks show after, which Bailey didn't care for. Sweet Aunt Julie took Bailey and a couple other kids to the play area and I think she enjoyed it even though you can't really tell by her face.

Raspberry Picking

This past Saturday we decided to go out and pick some raspberries. I thought it'd be fun to make some freezer jam with them but they're quickly disappearing into our mouths and not turning into any jam!!! Bailey turned out to be a bit more destructive than helpful but we're glad she was there to keep us entertained.

Bailey recently celebrated her first birthday. We had all of her friends and family that live in the area over and it was a blast! She had a cupcake theme, her cake was a large cupcake. She received lots of fun toys, books, a really cute chair. And of course a girls favorite thing... clothes! Thanks to everyone who came and made her day so special and a special thanks to friends and family who couldn't come but still went out of their way to send her a gift.

Niagara Falls

Hi all. We visited one of the most awesome wonders of the world. This is Liesl and Bailey in front of the Canadian Horse Shoe falls of Niagara Falls. True to form, Bailey was as interested in the people as the spectacle.

They let you get up close with the falls. Bailey did like looking over the edge...

They teach you about the creation of the falls in a 4-D movie called Niagara's Fury. Bailey found a friend who happened to be the movie's narrator.

By the look on her face, it could have been her favorite part of the trip.

She stayed like this for several minutes. In a couple years, she may ask to talk about our trip to see the giant beaver.

We took Bailey on the Maid of the Mist. Here we are riding past the American falls. We're in the blue ponchos on the deck.

Bailey was the youngest sailor aboard, but looked bravely into the face of danger.

After several minutes of churning at the base of the falls, we were all ready to go back to base. The view was breathtaking.

On land, we journeyed behind the falls. This was our favorite spot for viewing Niagara Falls.

When we dried off we went butterfly hunting... Bailey has a keen eye for the flying insects, and even developed her detective abilities for those that had landed. Found you!

She did such great work that the Canadians rewarded her with their 2nd highest honor,

....to be a mounties trusted moose. What a privilege.

After a hard days work with her two favorite sidekicks the stresses of the day started to show in her eyes. Knowing her job was done she could rest well.

Visiting the Zoo and Playing in the Pool!!!

Today was a beautiful day, so Jared decided to take Bailey and I to the Zoo.

We saw lions, gorillas, and koalas. The tigers and bears apparently had the day off. We did get to walk behind this lorikeet exhibit. It was one of the very few times today that Bailey payed more attention to the animals than the people. We thought her favorite animal would be a monkey or a fish, but it ended up being the indiginous primate people of Cleveland.

That was apparently not enough excitment for one day, so we took her out to our swimming pool. The water had been heating for two days, and was just right. She was even a good sport when she fell in face first on her right side. This picture details the sad, wet, right piggy tail that never recovered. Although the piggy tail was sad, Bailey was amused.

She learned the delicate art of splashing!

It was a fantastic day.

Crawling and Eating

It seems like just yesterday Bailey was born, and now she's scooting around the house like it's nothing!
I'm going to give Grammy Gilman all the credit for this one. She was working a ton with Bailey to get her to crawl. She's also starting to really enjoy her food! Everytime we feed her now she makes this really funny noise...

Over Easter, Bailey and I had to leave daddy and go to Wisconsin to help out with Grandma and Grandpa Gilman. We had lot's of fun visiting all of our friends and family.

Bailey and I have started to walk as much as we can... the weather out here is very unpredictable so every good day we have we head out! One day it was so sunny I put my sun glasses on her!

We actually made these in January but I forgot to load the pictures... Our friends Paul and Kyla have the same cupcake book as us and the two couples decided to make some Penguins they had in the book... it was a lot of fun and we had a ton of penguins so the next day we went around to other dental students and dropped them off.

It was a ton of fun and I hope we can make some more(maybe we'll try a different cupcake) again soon.

Monday we took Bailey in for her 6 month appointment. She's been rolling over a lot and has really been trying to scoot forward but her sitting has been quite lacking... her Dr. asked us if she's been sitting and we said no not really but lo and behold leave it to Bailey to perform!

These pictures definitely weren't taken at the Dr. Appointment but it's fun to see how quickly she's learning, growing and changing.

Spring Break...

This first weekend of Spring Break we went down to Columbus to visit my Dad, he was in town doing a vet show. We did lots of stuff with him we visited the show and met a bird, a puppy, and bunny... We also went out to lots of fun restaurants and visited with our friends Ben, Melinda, and Emerson.

Bailey got a super sweet hairdo after one car ride!

She and grampy had a lot of fun visiting and playing together. Thanks grampy for the fun weekend, I hope we can do it again soon!

We've been having a lot of fun with Bailey lately. She's entered a stage where it seems she tries/learns something new everyday! She's really trying as hard as she can to crawl, she flips over like it's no problem, and just today she started "reclining" in her exersaucer...

She's starting solid foods, as you can tell she really likes to make a mess.

Bath's are extremely fun for her now, we can't give her a bath at the sink anymore though because she gets water EVERYWHERE!

For Valentine's Day Jared bought me a fruit bouquet... and I love him for it!(it was delicious) Bailey loved playing with the balloons and chewing on the core of the pineapple.

Christmas in Utah

We stopped by Grandpa and Fae's house our first full day here. Bailey loved sitting with dad and watching Grandpa's train go round and round the village!

Sadly we didn't have our camera with us when we went to Provo so we didn't get any pictures. We also took a quick trip up to Idaho to visit Liz and found this enormous stocking!

but I daresay that Christmas day was her favorite! she opened all her presents and ate ALL of the wrapping paper!!!

over all we think she had a fantastic time in Utah visiting and meeting all of her family.

Bailey has recently accuired a love for her stuffed puppy... while I was packing she was playing on our bed and getting a little fussy so I handed her the puppy to play with. She played contently for a while and then went silent... when I went to check her she had fallen asleep!!!

We're having a lot of fun dressing up Bailey, and she's having a lot of fun entertaining us with smiles, giggles, and lots of trying to flip over.

We went out this evening with our friends Tucker, Amy and Jill and saw the lights in down town Cleveland(sadly our camera ran out of batteries and we didn't' get a picture of them)

(if you notice my cheeks are all puffy from getting my wisdom teeth pulled Tuesday...ouch!)

Thanksgiving Break

This Thanksgiving we went to Wisconsin where Bailey was able to meet her Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Gilman! They both loved her, of course, and she had quite a good time showing off...

This year I decided to make Bailey's and Jared's costumes. Jared is a monkey and Bailey is his banana!

(Jared's costume is technically a Bear, and many people confused him for one, but his long tail is supposed to make it more monkey-like)

Before I was able to finish the costumes we went to a CADA (a club for dental student spouses) Halloween party with some of our friends.

We decided to make apple sauce and grape jelly with the fruit that we picked. We hadn't made either before, but we never let that stop us.

My job was alot of work! I had so many apples to peel and slice for the sauce. We'd picked about 5 different types of apples so our sauce is definitely one of a kind.

Jared had his work cut out for him too. He had to peel half of the grapes for the jam recipe... lets just say it took a while.

In the end our work paid off! We have some amaizing jam and applesauce

As we all know Jared is a HUGE football fan. So when my parent's found this outfit they had to get it for little Bailey.

Unfortunately she didn't get to stay up to watch the game... maybe another time... but we had a lot of fun dressing her up and taking pictures.

When others saw our perfect pumkins, we had to protect them.

Saturday we took Bailey out to pick apples, grapes, and her very first pumpkin. She was less than motivated most the day, but in the end had a great time.

Liesl was trying to feed Bailey today and couldn't tell if the bottle was getting to the right place. Bailey covered her face with her hands.

The Beehive- Bailey's Room

When we found out we were having a little girl, Liesl decided to decorate the room with in green and yellow, with bumble bees. It is still a work in progress.

One of the Liesl's pictured here is 7 months pregnant, and the other is right after Bailey was born.

You can see the window thingies(valences) with the bees on them. We spend a lot of time in the middle of the night in that chair with Bailey. Bailey sleeps great during the day. We change her, tickle her, talk to her, turn on her favorite football game, BUT nothing will get her up. Nighttime is a different story. She loves to be awake, and be held.

The dresser was given to us by Jack and Cheryl Fillmore. We cleaned, sanded, and repainted it. Here you can also clearly see Bailey's favorite pillow in the corner of her crib. Bailey's room is now a bright room that seems to capture any amount of light and magnify it.

Hilde and Joan found the changing table, and the shelves came from the Fillmores as well. The matching plates were from our FANTASTIC neighbors across the street (Lewis'). Liesl found the baskets and sewed in the lining and border to match.

Bailey Hope Comes Home

Bailey has enjoyed being home. She is a happy little girl that only fusses when she is hungry (like daddy). Bailey has already taken to football and tries to sneak peaks of any game her dad puts on the TV. Her first arm movements, according to daddy, were two hands straight up signaling a touchdown. Bailey was 7lbs 2oz when born. Joan, Emery, and Hilde came all the way down from Oconomowoc to help Mom, Dad, and Bailey get used to their new family arrangements. Bailey has loved being held by them all. She enjoyed going to church this Sunday, and became quite when ever the congregation sang the hymns. She is already a music fan. In the hospital Bailey was soothed by the french hymns, and Christmas songs. Unfortunately, Daddy didn't know too many little french nursery rhymes.

Liesl is 38 weeks pregnant, and more than willing to let little Bailey come early.
